Delicate Little Flowers

That title is ironic, of course. They may appear delicate, but flowers somehow manage to thrive in alpine tundra, dry desert sands, rocky ground, lava beds and in bogs and swamps. Most of the photos posted below were taken in the wild but a few were shot when Shirley and I were peeking through wrought iron gates and fences into private gardens in Savannah or Charleston. Some even come from public gardens at places like Colonial Williamsburg, Washington Oaks, Mepkin Abbey and Longwood. This is not intended to be a plant identifier. I just thought they were pretty and wanted to share. Hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment at the end.
